Josh and I went to the airport today to see my mom off. She will be gone for a couple weeks. This will be hard on Josh, because he's used to the fact that when we're at church during the week, we can pop in and see Nana T. So I figured actually going to the airport would help him understand that she was going on a trip.
After lots of big hugs and kisses, we said goodbye and watched her get in the security line. Then Bappa P. took us up to the top of the parking ramp. The elevator lobby had glass windows all around and you could see the planes coming and going. We walked out to the corner of the ramp and found ourselves facing the runway. We stood out in the cold and watched the planes. One would land, another would take-off, land, take-off, on and on.
The best part was that we saw Nana T.'s plane. Her gate happened to be directly across from us and we could see the plane being loaded. We weren't able to stay for take-off, since it was cold and windy and they hadn't even started boarding yet. But Josh enjoyed seeing it and talking about her flying away. Hopefully he'll remember that when we're near her office. Otherwise, he might be a little disappointed.
Have fun, Mom (Nana T.)!
